For my visit to a Eugene Emeralds baseball game, I wanted a hotel not too far from the ballpark (read about my visit to an Ems game here). The EVEN Hotel Eugene in the Harlow area was a great match. The hotel is a three-minute drive, a 13-minute bus ride, and a 20-minute walk from the baseball stadium. Additionally, it is a five-minute drive to Downtown Eugene and a six-minute drive to the Whiteaker neighborhood.
Wellness king room
Traveling with my wife, we chose a wellness king room. There is plenty of space for two large suitcases plus two carry-on suitcases and a pair of backpacks. The desk was a bit cramped, but the design is stylish and functional. The bed was extremely comfortable and has eucalyptus linens, which offer a cooler night’s sleep. Tech-engaged travelers will enjoy the iHome iBT29 Bluetooth alarm clock.
The primary reason the room has so much space is because the EVEN Hotels brand emphasize wellness and fitness while traveling. So, rooms have space for seated and standing workouts. In addition, each room has resistance bands, a stability ball, and other exercise equipment. A training guide helps each guest use the equipment, too.
The bathroom is extremely spacious. The design is light and bright with a focus on contemporary design elements. The shower is covered in subway tiles with some accent tiles wrapping around the unit at eye-level. The vanity is not particularly large, but provides enough space for two people to simultaneously prepare for the day.
Parking
The EVEN Hotel Eugene has complimentary self-parking for guests.
Amenities
There are a variety of amenities at the EVEN Hotel Eugene. With an emphasis on wellness throughout the EVEN Hotels chain, the hotel has a fitness room and a heated, indoor pool plus a hot tub. Additionally, the hotel has a ping-pong room and a fire pit area.
Dining
Cork & Kale is the hotel’s on-site restaurant. The restaurant emphasizes healthy choices with each item’s calories listed on the menu. A great perk is that guests can order food in advance, which helps reduce waiting after at the restaurant. Additionally, guests can order by 9 p.m. the previous night and have the meal ready at a specified time. I ordered an egg and Canadian bacon sandwich while my wife Katie ate an egg white and avocado wrap. Both were quite tasty and came with a small bowl of mixed fruit,
Cork & Kale also serves dinner starting at 4 p.m. The evening menu includes appetizers, flatbreads, sandwiches, and more. Guests can also take advantage of a wide variety of snacks. The hotel has chocolate-covered pretzels, fresh fruit, KRAVE jerky, and several other items available for purchase. The coffee is from Portland Roasting Coffee, and guests can purchase 12-ounce bags to take home.
Recapping the experience
The EVEN Hotel Eugene is located not far from the I-5 and I-105 interchange. Its location makes it a short drive to several sights in Eugene. The room was spacious and brightly decorated. The work space is a bit small, but the in-room workout area is quite large. Breakfast at Cork & Kale was delicious, filling, and healthy. The hotel is suited for a variety of travelers. Guests seeking modern amenities with a comfortable space will be happy here. Travelers seeking to maintain their fitness routine while eating healthy will find a winning combination at the EVEN Hotel Eugene. Ultimately, the hotel offers the best of both worlds regardless of a traveler’s needs.
